Who do you do best?

A little something to ponder.........

A cry to the young and old!
I have constantly been warned about PEER PRESSURE and although I knew the definition of PEER and the definition of PRESSURE, I just never really took a close look at what PEER PRESSURE REALLY is.

PEER PRESSURE is a compelling influence from a person who is of the same rank; ability; an equal to you. What is that in a nutshell, someone who is totally equal to you but wanting to convince; fool; trick; or deceive you into doing what’s considered to be the “In thing to do” or the “popular” thing to do.

I began to really look at people who become victims of PEER PRESSURE and I’ve found that at some point or another, everyone has been a victim of PEER PRESSURE. Some of the things that motivate us to give in to this type of pressure are, wanting to fit in; wanting to be known as popular; wanting some type of attention; wanting to escape from problems in our home or the need to belong. Even though I have been warned not to give in to PEER PRESSURE, I wasn’t told how to avoid PEER PRESSURE.

One of the greatest ways to avoid PEER PRESSURE is to simple be yourself! I know your thinking “Yeah right”, I understand that sounds much easier than it is but it does not mean it can’t be done. Think about it, who can you be better than anyone else? The one person that you can imitate better than anyone you know is yourself! When you make up your mind that no one’s opinion about you is going to alter who you are, you will find freedom in your life. Many people that spend a lot of time talking bad about you are the same people that have nothing good to say about anyone. These people are one’s who have given in to the pressure that you are fighting against, so why would you consume yourself in trying to please a person who can’t even be happy with themselves. Learn who you are, get to know yourself, be happy with the skin your in. If you need to hear you are beautiful, look in the mirror and tell YOURSELF you are beautiful. Understand and accept that there will be a lot of people who the devil will use to cause you to try to be something your not or do something that you know is not right for you to do. Don’t be ashamed of who you are and the convictions and restrictions you have in your life. Don’t allow any one to alter who you are and how you feel about yourself.

The bible says in psalms 139:14 “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well”.

No matter your age, know who you are, be confident in who you are because it’s you that you do best!

May the grace of God encamp you, the mercy of God protect you and the peace of God comfort you always!

Becoming Unplugged

A little something to ponder.........

This is the year of 2009 and the question that plagues my mind is what’s so special about this year as compared to all the other years past?

This particular year, my mind has been battling with optimism and I have worked hard to change my way of thinking so that I may be optimistic.

As you probably have experienced yourself, in order to be optimistic about something you must work at it very hard. Optimism requires you to think out of the box. To think out of the box means to live, breathe and have your being strictly on the basis of FAITH!

Go with me to Matthew 14:28, here we have Peter seeing his savior walking on water and because he knew that the Lord was out there, he wanted to be out on the water with him. Peter said unto the Lord “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water”. Peter was thinking out of the box. He had never known of man to walk on water but because the Lord bided him to come, Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk in confidence knowing that the Lord was right there with him.

We consistently quote verbatim Hebrews 11:1 which says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” But we won’t live by the same faith that we are spewing out of our mouths. Just like Peter, when the storms began to roar and circumstances seem hopeless, we start to sink with doubt and fear.

To become unplugged is to become equipped with FAITH! Faith tells you to go after the impossible; faith helps you to see the invisible; faith allows you to touch the untouchable! The problem is that we as people won’t get out of our box; we won’t step out of the boat and those of us that have tried to step out of the boat only got so far before they began to sink with doubt and fear.

People of God, the hour has passed and the time has come for us to operate in our gifts and talents. We have a dieing world out there that is dark; cold; foggy; and hazy and the people need a light bright enough that they can find their way to Christ. We are that light but we must first become unattached from our own idiosyncrasies or hang-ups that keep us bond to the box and become unplugged by personally going to the Lord and asking him to bid us to come out in the un-chartered waters and walk by faith knowing that He is with us all the way especially in the midst of the storms and rains.

By FAITH, step out of the box and BECOME UNPLUGGED!

May the grace of God encamp you, the mercy of God protect you and the peace of God comfort you always!

My New Year's Resolution

A little something to ponder.......

Each year in the month of January, we have a great tendency to make what we call our “New Year’s Resolution”. I have been pondering this thing for quite some time now and I have come to the conclusion that we are willing to make a change in our lives but we are not willing to make a change in our lifestyles.

Resolution is the noun for “fixed determination”, to have a determination is to have a “firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end”. When I consider that fact, I come to the conclusion that the resolutions that we make at the beginning of the year should be one’s that we are determined to achieve and are willing to use the entire year to accomplish that achievement. My mind goes back to the Apostle Paul, when he wrote in Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus….”

Paul’s goal was to receive his crown of glory which is in heaven and he had determined in his mind that he would change his lifestyle to a way that would assist in his goal accomplishment. Paul stated in the thirteenth verse of this same scripture that he was forgetting those things which are behind him and reaching forth to those things which are before him.

I know we have many different types of “New Years resolutions” but consider if you will, the resolution that would place you in position to make changes not only in your life but that would cause you to make changes in your lifestyle. We all should have goals and achievements that we want to accomplish in the natural and in the spirit and for that reason, let us examine ourselves completely and acquire a fixed determination to ascertain those goals by heeding to the advice of our brother Paul.

Don’t look back at what you could have, should have or would have done, forget about that and use this entire year to reach forth to those things which are before you and Press toward that mark!

The beginning...........

Oh my goodness! This has been a long time coming! I have finally made the choice to be obedient to the will of God. Trust me when I tell you that this has been a long and hard battle with me and my mind. I got the word from the Lord to go online and just speak what he puts on my heart about two years ago and after many days of praying and temper tantrums, here I am!

It is my prayer that I am able to bless someone with the thoughts that God places in my heart.

Allow me to introduce myself to those who don't know me that well. My ministry started at The House of Deliverance Pentecostal Church under the leadership of the late Suffragan Bishop Jesse Battle, Sr. and later Bishop Jesse Battle Jr. I served in the capacities of Secretary of the Mass Choir Committee; member of the Sunday School Graduation Committee; Director of the Missionary and Christian Women Choir; Co-Coordinator and lead preschool teacher for Vacation Bible School; Director of the Voices of Youth Children’s Choir; and I also worked part-time as the church clerk. Later I was appointed by Bishop Battle, Sr. to work with the P.A.W. (Pentecostal Assemblies of the World) Kids choir. I also was a member of the P.A.W. M.D.C. Choir and the P.A.W. Central Jurisdiction Choir.

In 2003 God moved Our family to LaParagon Christian Ministry Church under the leadership of Elder Robert E. Smith. In my newly assigned area of the vineyard, I finally accepted the call to the ministry and preached my first sermon on October 7, 2004. I have served as Director of the Music Ministry and is presently serving as the Director of LaParagon’s Woman to Woman Ministry which I introduced to the church in October of 2006. I am serving as a member of the LaParagon Christian Ministry Church Ecclesia Congress, Board of Directors and also the Church Administrator.

It is my testimony that my ministry is one fueled by the offering of hope to the hopeless, strength to the weak in spirit and mind and courage to the fearful; which is why I have begun the work of starting “Fueled by Hope Ministry” that will serve under the covering of LaParagon Christian Ministry Church. The spiritual weapons that I want to offer to the world are ones that helped me in various points of my life to get free from the things that had me in bondage and unable to move forward in God.

I have become a lover of the word of God, a follower of the Lord as one who endeavors to maintain relationship with God and possessing a thirst to advance the kingdom of God by feeding the dying souls of man with the purified gospel of Christ found only in the divine scriptures.

So there you have it! Now that you know who I am together we can explore the wonderful word of God led by His divine inspiration.

Welcome and feel free to post your thoughts; testimonies or words of encouragement. Make sure that each of your posting are lead by the inspiration of God and God only. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
